## Your Customers Are Already Asking ChatGPT. Are You Showing Up?

Your next customer isn’t just googling anymore – they’re having a conversation with ChatGPT, describing exactly what they need. If your business isn’t part of that conversation, someone else’s is.

OpenAI Ads just launched in Europe, and I’m already running live campaigns to find out what actually works – not just what the press releases say.

- **+ 25 euro a day minimum.** Get in with whatever you can spend, not what the platforms used to require.
- **+ Pay per click, not per impression.** You’re no longer paying just to be seen – you’re paying when someone acts.
- **+ Set up in days, live before verification even finishes.** I build your campaigns, tracking, and product feed while your account is still being approved, so you’re not waiting to start.

## What Are ChatGPT Ads

[OpenAI Ads went live in Germany this week](https://ads.openai.com/). It’s a new advertising channel inside ChatGPT itself – your ad shows up in the context of a conversation someone is already having, not next to a list of search results. Campaigns can now be booked through the [Self Service Ads Manager](https://ads.openai.com/).

It’s early. The platform is being updated on a roughly weekly basis, and I’d treat anything I write here as a snapshot, not a settled read. In addition, the minimum daily budget is 25 euro. Much higher than a daily Google Ad budget.

## The Benefit of AI Ads to You

The short version: you’re reaching people while they’re mid-problem, not mid-scroll. ChatGPT already had over 159 million users in the EU before ads even launched. Criteo reports that around 70% of the traffic ChatGPT sends out lands directly on a product page – not a homepage, not a category page. That’s a meaningfully high-intent number, if it holds.

Are you running Google Ads? Similiar to Google ads, OpenAI ads allow you to create campaigns, ad groups, and ads. And, you can also set up conversion tracking.

I’ll be honest about where this sits: OpenAI’s ad business is still a niche compared to Google’s. Not even close. But niche and new was exactly where I found myself with my own first test – small budget, small numbers, and still enough signal to learn something. See the case study below.

## How You Get Started with AI Ads

Here’s what’s actually required on your end, and it’s not much:

- Your company logo
- A credit card (currently the only payment method accepted)
- Your Commercial Register number
- Your Tax ID
- OR you run the ads as an individual

That’s it. I take it from there – I set up the OpenAI self-service account with you together, side by side, and handle the conversion tracking setup as part of that, because a campaign without tracking just tells you money is leaving, not why.

One practical note: approval currently takes about 5 to 7 days. You don’t have to sit that out doing nothing – I use that window to build the campaigns, set up tracking, and get the product feed ready, so the account is approved and already moving on day one, not day eight.

I didn’t just read the announcement, by the way. I ran a campaign.

## Case Study: My Own Day 1

**The experiment:** I created my first ChatGPT Ads campaign in Germany with a €25/day budget, promoting two services: online marketing workshops and WordPress/website support. [Read the case study on LinkedIN](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/case-study-testing-chatgpt-ads-day-1-warren-laine-naida-vewce/).

**The results:** In the first day, the campaign generated 1,023 impressions and 8 clicks, spending €11.24. The Workshop ad generated 7 of the 8 clicks, at an average CPC of about €1.37. Website Support generated one click at €1.66. 87.5% of all clicks came from iOS, with the remainder from Android. Web impressions generated no clicks.

The Ads Manager only shows you numbers. I connected the plugin to my ChatGPT to get further detail on clicks and devices – after years on Google Ads, that was something new.

**What I learned:** ChatGPT Ads doesn’t show advertisers the actual conversations that triggered an ad, so I can’t see exactly what people were discussing. But the 7 Workshop clicks suggest conversations around topics like these may be particularly relevant:

- “How can I improve my online marketing?”
- “How do I learn SEO?”
- “I need help with digital marketing.”
- “How can I get more visibility online?”
- “I need a workshop/course about online marketing.”
- “How do I learn to use AI/ChatGPT for marketing?”

*These are inferred intents, not observed conversations* – I want to be clear about that. But the pattern suggests learning and improving online marketing may be a stronger intent on this platform than generic website support.

**My initial conclusion:** promising, if expensive, and without the search terms Google gives you. ChatGPT may be particularly well suited to promoting educational and consulting services, because people are already having conversations about problems they want to solve or skills they want to learn – which is exactly the position a workshop or a consulting offer wants to be in.

![](https://warrenlainenaida.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Screenshot-2026-09-07-102841-1024x548.png)Looking at four of the visitors, it was clear to see that 50% clicked on the CTA. That is a 50% conversion rate.

## Where This Fits With Everything Else I Do for You

I wouldn’t be running this test if it stood on its own. It doesn’t – it sits next to the same work I’ve been doing on [Google Ads](https://warrenlainenaida.net/services/seo-google-analytics-services/), as well as [SEO, and GEO](https://warrenlainenaida.net/online-marketing-books/seo-all-you-need-to-know-get-yourself-and-your-website-found/) (Generative Engine Optimization, or getting found inside AI answers, not just search results) for years.

That’s actually the point. Ads don’t work if no one’s heard of you, and a paid click means very little if your site and your content can’t hold someone’s attention once they land. The SEO and GEO work is what makes sure ChatGPT – and Google’s AI Overviews, and every other assistant now answering questions instead of just listing links – has something accurate and well-structured to say about your business in the first place. The ads are how you show up in the meantime, while that organic visibility is being built.

So when I set up an OpenAI Ads account for a client, I’m looking at it the same way I look at Google Ads: not a bandaid, not a one-off, but one part of a findability strategy that includes your search presence, your GEO presence, and now this. If you’re already working with me on SEO or Google Ads, this is a natural next test to run alongside it – not a separate project.

If you’re weighing whether this is worth testing now versus waiting, my honest read is: test small. €25 a day told me something useful within 24 hours. You don’t need a big budget to find out whether this channel talks to your audience – you need a focused offer and a few days of real numbers.

**Let’s schedule a call.** I’ll walk you through what I’m seeing so far, and set your account up alongside my own ongoing tests – so you’re comparing notes with someone actually running the numbers, not just reading a press release.
